Abyss Dragon v2 information and care instructions:

All the Norns in the .zip are genetically identical except for their pigment and pigment bleed genes. There is one male and one female of each pigment/pigment bleed variant combo (for example, 0 red 75 green 0 blue max rotation max swap). I may have accidentally done an extra of one or two, but for the most part, they are all different. This means that although several of the variants look very similar (especially as babies) no two of the same sex are actually the same genetic color. Color mutations will rapidly crop up in the bred Dragons, of course, but this large variety of Gen1s will give you plenty of options to start out with.

- This is a TWB (True Warmblood) breed, so make sure the room they are in is neither too hot nor too cold. So far I have raised them successfully in the updated Aquanornia, the Deep Abyss (their namesake room), and the Hydro Nornterrarium. They should also do fine in most terrestrial rooms. The only room I know is specifically a problem for them is, unfortunately, Artemisia Sea, which seems to be too warm for them. I may be able to make them less heat sensitive in a future revision but for now just keep them in other rooms. If they seem cold a lot you can use the Heat Rocks or the C3 Heater agent to warm them up. There are other agents that can provide some warmth but those are the most useful, I think.

- Abyss Dragons are now able to survive entirely on eating critters, though they have instincts to hunt bugs and pests as well. They can use fruit, food, and detritus as backup food sources.

- Abyss Dragons are very tough when it comes to fighting, and can be surprisingly aggressive if repeatedly provoked by the same individual Norn. They will not kill each other as a rule, but you may want to keep members of more fragile breeds (of any of the three species) away from them.

- They are not inherently frightened by Grendels, but they will defend themselves if attacked and most Grendel breeds will not survive a serious fight with an Abyss Dragon. They generally will not flee from Grendels unless severely wounded.

- They have some innate disease resistance but can still be killed by it, so if you don't use the Roamer, you will want to keep potions and such on hand to treat any infections that may pop up.

- To allow them to safely eat pests, geddonase is no longer harmful to them and in fact promotes organ healing.

- They are still vulnerable to ATP Decoupler and Cyanide, but glycotoxin is a bit less harmful to them and they will not get glycotoxin from eating detritus.

- True to dragon myths, they don't spend too much time growing up compared to the huge amount of time they spend as adults. After a long adult lifespan, they spend very little time by comparison in the Old stage and die very quickly after becoming Senile. They are capable of surviving at least fifteen hours, though they will be Old by thirteen or fourteen.

- They should be fairly easy breeders, but not enough to overload the world. Let me know if they seem a bit too fertile.

- If they hit each other more than you'd like, tell them 'no'; they are very sensitive to that word and should stop if you repeat yourself firmly. If they seem lonely or homesick a lot, you can try telling them 'yes' to reassure them.

- They can swim from birth and, like v1, can teleport and will do so whenever it suits them, just like the V1s did. When they get pregnant they will get sleepy and eventually doze off, sink to the bottom, and lay their egg. If you also have the .cos or an agent that lets eggs hatch underwater, you can do wolfling runs with these guys very nicely.

- Unlike normal Norns, these guys attach little importance to a home territory and much more to their social/family group. As such, they get their Comfort from positive interactions with each other rather than by approaching a Norn Home. By the same token they are much less sensitive to crowding (though not immune to it) and will become more lonely faster than a normal Norn. Never keep these alone unless you are hand-raising and willing to spend a lot of time tickling and reassuring.

There are a variety of other small changes to them, but none that are really important on a day-to-day basis. Note that they have some extra organs (the Carbuncle, which stores various instincts and other new genes; the Swim Bladder, which has the swimmerase emitter and Sleepy Pregnany gene; and the Gills, which hold the genes allowing them to breathe underwater and the 'suffociation causes panic' gene.) They also just have a lot of new genes in general and several genes removed or silenced. For this reason they are not really compatible for breeding with other types of Norn, not even version 1 Abyss Dragons, and I really do not recommend allowing that unless you're okay with a large number of stillborns, sliders, and other nonviable offspring.
