Guide to Albia

On this page I will describe the herbs and weeds that grow in Albia. Some of them are also found in the health kit.

The herbs

Morning GloryMorning glory:

Can be found near the player piano and in the health kit. Reduces pain without any side effects.

FeverfewFeverfew:

Can be found in the garden and in the health kit. Reduces sleepiness and tiredness. If I remember well, it is not labelled correctly in the help file of some versions of Creatures. Don't be fooled, this is not a weed and doesn't cause pain!

CampanulaCampanula:

Reduces fever. Found in the garden near the temple.

TomatoTomato:

Aphrodisiakum. Contains a small dose of adrenaline. In later genomes (Ron and Forest), adrenaline reduces the life span by reacting with ageing. Found in the breeder's kit and near the watch tower.

The weeds

Not all the weeds in Albia are really dangerous. But don't forget that norns can only think in categories and can't make the difference between an ugly tomato and the death cup mushroom. If I see that one of my norns eats a weed, I always slap it regardless of the weed in question.

PyrethiumPyrethium:

Causes pain and hunger. Found in the garden near the green house.

BaobabBaobab:

Causes sneezing. Found in the garden near the green house.

NightshadeNightshade:

Causes sleepiness and tiredness. Found on the grendel tree.

LaburnumLaburnum:

A very dangerous weed that causes fever toxin, sleep toxin, coughing (histamine B) and sneezing (histamine A). Can be found between the watch tower and the music room. Keep your norns, especially very young ones, away from it.

Ugly TomatoUgly tomato:

Reduces sex drive. Contains a small dose of adrenaline. Found in the breeder's kit and on the grendel tree.

GentianGentian:

Causes coughing and fever toxin. Grows on the island.

Death Cup mushroomDeath cup mushroom:

This is the most dangerous weed in Albia. It contains glycotoxin that burns down glycogen (the long time energy storage of the norns and grendels) when eaten, which results in a rapid loss of energy. But all in all, it is less dangerous than the documentation suggests. A healthy, adult norn won't die of it, unless it takes a second or third bite. If you realize that a norn has eaten the death cup mushroom, feed it cheese or any other food that contains a great amount of starch, and it will recover soon. Very young and very old norns are more likely to die of it, so try to keep them away from the lifts on the grendel tree.

The following two plants are found in the 1996 Christmas Pack; they are also classified as weeds.

Mistle Toe Mistle Toe:

Aphrodisiakum

HollyHolly:

Reduces need for pleasure but causes pain when eaten.
