POTAMOGETON GRENDELS of Grendel Man

These grendels have had quite the history. The first and original green, amphibious grendels were Grendel_Slayer's Pond Weed Grendels V1. Apart from being amphibious and their color, they were simply bog-standard C3 grendels, right down to the "children makes you old gene."

Seeing as their color didn't remain consistent throughout their lives (they lost any resemblance to a pondweed come adulthood in C3 standalone), I forged V2 using a fresh grendel genome. These guys were friendlier (well, as much as I could get it given my limited experience back then), didn't have the "children makes you old" gene, and remained nice and pond-weedy well into old age.

For an equally long period of time, the Pond Weed Grendel article on the Creatures Wiki has announced the coming of the Pond Weed Grendels V3, who were, among other things, meant to be able to photosynthesise. At long last, they're finally here in the form of the Potamogeton Grendels. These can't get food from light, but they do have several other features that make them a bit more plant-like than the standard grendel.

Potamogeton Grendels are amphibious like their two distant cousins, so they can live on land or underwater without suffering discomfort in either area. However, their instincts are more or less tended towards a life underwater.

They love high amounts of plant life in their living area. They feel at home when there's lots of nutrients (CA 4) around, and when homesick they'll try to find a plant. They also like to sleep around plants, and tend to use plants as their primary source of entertainment (although they'll also play with critters and bugs should there be no plants around).

Their dietary needs are a bit different from normal grendels. They get less nutrition out of food, and don't tend to eat critters. However, organic matter, such as seeds, is more nutritious for them than it is for a normal grendel. Detritus also forms a major part of their diet, provided it is non-toxic.

They are friendly grendels, and don't go out of their way to beat up other creatures, norns or otherwise. They are slightly more social than normal grendels, but they're more moderate in terms of breeding.

They also age slower than normal grendels, although they still age a bit faster than norns. Their overall lifespan is roughly the same as a normal grendel, however.

In case you're wondering where their weird-sounding name comes up, "Potamogeton" comes from the genus of several species of pondweeds. The name "Pond Weed Grendel V3" was a bit unoriginal, so I did some research and came up with the grendels' current species name.

They use the sprites of the standard C3 Grendel (Grendel slot A), but provided you have voices for them they'll work nicely in DS using the sprites of the Banshee Grendels or a third-party grendel breed.

The included .cos file is for C3 only. It makes the water plants in the Norn Terrarium pond emit nutrient smell and gives them a push script, making the area around them suitable for a Potamogeton habitat.

Installation: Included in the .zip are the Potamogeton Egg Agent, the aforementioned waterplant.cos file, and two baby potamogeton grendels. The .agents file goes into your "My Agents" folder, which should allow you to produce Potamogeton eggs from the Egg Layer or Muco. The .cos file goes into your "Bootstrap/001 World" folder, and it comes into effect when you make a new world. The two starters go into your "My Creatures" folder, and can be imported into your game with the Import option on the Creature Selection Menu.

Please ask first before hosting the Potamogeton Grendels on your own site.
