talkative statue norns by Ettina for Docking Station, contains new genetics, and a baby male norn export
::----- Talkative Statue norns.txt -----:: These norns have fairly extensive modifications. Firstly, they are 'sliders' due to the removal of all pose and gait genes. They're essentially completely paralyzed, though they can interact with objects if you drag them there. (Hence 'statue'!) Secondly, they are immortal. All death-related genes have been removed, so they should be impossible to kill except by 'targ norn dead' or by objects such as the pirahnas or airlock. (Genetic modifications can't save a norn from those!) Thirdly, they are infertile - they have no gonads or uterus. This is to prevent the possibility of them breeding and contaminating your breeding population with gait issues and immortality. Fourthly, they should only get drive decreases, not increases, and so unless injected with a drive they will be perpetually happy. Lastly, their instincts are modified so they will have a strong tendency to express in reaction to any drive. (Hence 'talkative'!) These guys are designed with the intent of testing what other norns know by getting them to give advice to the talkative statue norn. To use them this way, you'll need to make use of the CAOS Command Line to inject drive into them. Press Ctrl+Shift+C to open the command line. (Be careful, if you type the wrong thing here you can break your world!) If you have imported the norn in the pack, he will already have full vocabulary. If you hatched your own using the genome in the pack, however, make sure he/she is selected and type in 'targ norn vocb', then press enter to teach him/her a full vocabulary. (You could also drag him/her to the teaching machine and see if he/she will push it, but this is quicker.) Next, make sure your talkative statue is selected and type in 'targ norn chem XXX 1' (replacing XXX with the number corresponding to your desired drive, see below). Then press Ctrl+Shift+C again to close the command line. If he/she doesn't spontaneously express, try telling him/her 'express'. To lower the drive, either use to command line to give him/her 'targ norn chem XXX -1' or get him/her to do whichever action would normally lower the drive. (Remember, if you drag him/her to an object, he/she can still interact with it.)
