Door Hider and Button/Lift Hider V1.0 for Creatures 3 -- readme file

VERSION 1.0 - February 16, 2000

TO USE THESE AGENTS YOU MUST HAVE THE C3 UPDATE. 

To see if you have the update press ctrl-shift-enter to put Creatures 3 
into windowed mode. The window should say 'Creatures 3 - Engine 1.158'.
You must start a new world for the update to take effect. Worlds 
created prior to the update will not inject agents correctly, even if 
you have installed the C3 update. Press ctrl-shift-enter to get back 
to full-screen mode.



Installation:

Put hm_hiders.agents into your My Agents folder. Start Creatures 3 
and go to the Agent Creator Machine. Make sure you have gotten the 
Creator Efficiency power-ups and have at least 50 units of Bioenergy. 
Click the arrows until you find the Door Hider or the Button/Lift 
Hider, then click the round create button. 

To completely remove these agents from your world you must use the 
'remove agent' function of the Agent Creator Machine to remove the 
scripts. The Door and Button/Lift Hiders can also be recycled.

Please let me know if you have a problem with these agents.

Bugs and Known problems: 

When the Button/Lift Hider is touching both a button and a lift at the
same time, it will not register the lift. When using the Button/Lift 
Hider, it is best to make sure it is touching only one button or lift
at a time.

DESCRIPTION:

These agents are designed to 'lock' buttons, doors, and lifts by
making them invisible to creatures. A creature can't activate what it
can't see. :-)

To use the Hider, simply touch it to the object you want to make 
invisible. In a few seconds the roving eye will stop. The color of
the stationary eye indicates the visibility of the object. Red is
visible, blue is invisible. Click the Hider to change the visibility
attribute. It may take a second or two for the Hider to register the
change.

Be careful about making lifts invisible. A creature that is homesick
or in need of a certain type of food will happily jump off cliffs to
reach its goal!

NOTE: A 'door' is actually two door objects -- the exit and the 
entrance. To make a door completely impassable, you must make both
sides of it invisible.

Also, the Button/Lift Hider only works on objects classed as 'buttons'.
It will not work on the parts of a machine that we humans call 
"buttons". To see what an object is classed as in C3, press F1 and
left-click on it.

Lis Morris' Infirmary door is meant to be invisible, so I would leave
it that way.

IDEAS:
Use the Door Hiders to quarantine the different Terrariums, such as
the Jungle. Make the door to the Learning Room invisible to make an 
isolation chamber for Norns. Make the airlocks safe from inquisitive 
creatures by making the doors and buttons invisible. Make a lift 
invisible for a few minutes to stop a crowd of Norns from doing the
'up-down-up-down' loop.

The Door and Button/Lift Hiders cannot be seen/smelled by creatures.
